Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

This page explains your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and how to exercise the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.

We do not sell your personal information. We may "share" it for personalized ads.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

On our iOS and Android apps, free users see ads served by Google AdMob — a home-feed banner, an occasional Reels video ad, and optional rewarded ads for bonus Rex messages. For adult users, these ads may be personalized: Google may receive your device's advertising identifier (on iOS, only if you allow tracking), device and app information, approximate location derived from your IP address, and ad interaction data, and may use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Under California law this is considered "sharing" personal information. Categories shared: identifiers (advertising ID), internet or other electronic network activity (ad interactions), and approximate geolocation. Recipient: Google LLC (AdMob). Plus and Pro members never see ads.

You can opt out at any time using the controls below, the in-app setting, or a Global Privacy Control signal. When you opt out, any ad you choose to watch is non-personalized and we stop sharing your data for targeted advertising. We never share the data of users under 18 for targeted advertising — they only ever receive non-personalized ads. Our other sub-processors listed on our Sub-Processor List process data only on our documented instructions and are contractually prohibited from using it for their own purposes.

Your opt-out preference

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

FriendRex automatically recognizes the Global Privacy Control signal sent by browsers and extensions that support it. When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we treat it as a valid opt-out request under California law without any further action required from you.

If GPC is engaged we will display a "GPC signal detected" badge above and your status will read "Opted out (GPC)." You may still toggle the manual control above to confirm or override your preference; the most-recent signal wins.

Other ways to exercise your rights

• Email: privacy@friendrex.app with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share."
• In-app: Settings → Privacy & Security → "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information."
• Authorized agent: California residents may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on their behalf. We will require written proof of authorization.

We will respond to verifiable requests within 15 business days, as required by Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.135(a)(2). We will not require you to create an account, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

What we do when you opt out

• We record your preference in our audit log (privacy_optouts/{uid} for signed-in users; cookie + localStorage for visitors).
• All ads in our apps (banner, Reels video and rewarded ads) are requested as non-personalized, and we stop sharing your data with Google AdMob for targeted advertising.
• We never sell your personal information, whether or not you opt out.
• If we ever change our practices to begin sharing data with a new category of recipient, we will (a) notify you, (b) re-confirm your preference, and (c) honor your existing opt-out unless you affirmatively withdraw it.
