Child Safety Standards

Last updated: October 20, 2026 | Friend Rex LLC

FriendRex has a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This document describes the safeguards in place today to keep minors safe on our platform, our process for responding to abuse, and how to report concerns.

1. Our Commitment

Friend Rex LLC ("FriendRex," "we," "us," "our") is committed to providing an online environment that is safe for all users, with particular attention to the protection of children and teens. We do not tolerate child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sexualization of minors, or any other form of child sexual exploitation. We design our product, our moderation process, and our staff procedures to remove and report this content, and to cooperate fully with law enforcement and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

These Standards apply to every user of FriendRex across web and mobile; to every piece of content uploaded to the platform (images, video, audio, text); to every direct message and chat communication; and to every community hosted on our service.

2. Prohibited Content and Behavior

The following are absolutely prohibited on FriendRex and will result in immediate content removal, permanent account termination, NCMEC referral where U.S. federal law requires, and referral to law enforcement where required by applicable law:

3. Age Policy and Access Controls

FriendRex is intended for users 13 years of age and older.

AgeAccessWhat applies today
Under 13 Blocked Sign-up asks every new user for their date of birth and refuses anyone under 13. Our server also automatically deletes any new account with an under-13 birth date (now in effect). If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we delete it (see Section 6).
13–17 Teen Teen safety notice during sign-up; R-rated movies and TV-MA shows are filtered from browsing and recommendations, and that setting cannot be turned off; teens cannot join communities marked 18+; only non-personalized ads are shown in our mobile apps. Messaging (now in effect): direct messages only with friends (an accepted friend request, or a mutual follow); group chats only with people on the teen's friends list, at most 8 members; strangers cannot start a chat with a teen; existing chats with non-friends are paused. Teen profiles are still visible to signed-in users and teens still appear in search.
18+ Full All features, subject to our Community Guidelines.

Teen status is worked out on our server from the birth date entered at sign-up. Accounts without a usable date of birth are treated as teen accounts, and a teen who changes their birth date to an adult one stays a teen while the change is reviewed. FriendRex does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. For details on our age policy and parental requests, see our Age Policy.

4. Prevention and Safeguards

FriendRex is a small company. Our safety work combines people reviewing reports with the product safeguards below, which are now in effect. We describe only what is in place, including what is not covered yet (Section 4.4), and we will update this page as we add more.

4.1 Product Safeguards

4.2 AI Safeguards

FriendRex's AI assistant ("Rex") is instructed never to generate sexual content, and we test Rex against prompt-injection attempts. Rex's replies pass through Google's safety filters (on the Gemini path, stricter for teens) and through our own text filter on every AI provider; unsafe replies are replaced with a safe message. For teens, Rex is told to keep replies age-appropriate, never to ask for personal details, and to point them to a trusted adult or the 988 lifeline if they mention self-harm. Rex is a text-only assistant about movies, TV and anime; it does not create images. See our AI Disclosure.

4.3 Community Moderation

Communities that allow members under 18 must keep their content age-appropriate. Community creators and moderators must remove CSAE content as soon as they see it and report it to FriendRex. Failing to do so results in removal of the community and termination of the creator's account. See our Community Guidelines.

4.4 What Is Not Covered Yet

We want parents and users to know the limits of our safeguards:

5. How to Report Child Safety Concerns

Anyone can report suspected CSAE content or behavior, whether or not they use FriendRex. Every report is reviewed by a person. Reports are confidential: we do not reveal the reporter's identity to the reported user or to community moderators.

5.1 In-App Reporting

Any signed-in user can report a post, comment, reel, list, user profile, direct message or group-chat message from inside the FriendRex app:

  1. Find the content or profile of concern.
  2. Open its menu (···) or the message options.
  3. Select Report.
  4. Choose the closest reason and add any details that will help our review.
  5. Submit. The app confirms that your report was received.

5.2 Email Reporting

For urgent reports, reports from non-users (parents, guardians, educators, law enforcement), or reports with evidence attached, email support@friendrex.app with a subject line beginning "Child Safety". Please include the username or link of the account or content, a description of the concern, any evidence you can lawfully share, and whether there is an immediate threat.

We aim to acknowledge child-safety emails within one (1) business day.

5.3 Reporting Directly to NCMEC and Law Enforcement

You can also report suspected child sexual abuse material directly to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678 (United States), or contact your local law-enforcement agency. If a child is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.

6. Our Response Process

When we receive a report of suspected CSAE, through the app or by email, we:

  1. Review it. Every report alerts our team by email. A person reviews reports, normally within 24 hours, looking at the content, the account and the surrounding context.
  2. Remove it. Content that violates these Standards is removed from public view as soon as it is confirmed.
  3. Act on the account. Confirmed CSAE violations result in permanent account termination.
  4. Preserve evidence. We keep the material and related records in restricted storage for as long as the law requires, rather than deleting them, so they are available to NCMEC and law enforcement.
  5. Report to NCMEC. We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the NCMEC CyberTipline as required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A (Section 7).
  6. Under-13 accounts. New accounts with an under-13 birth date are deleted automatically by our server. If we otherwise learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we delete the account and its data.

7. Reporting to NCMEC (18 U.S.C. § 2258A)

As a U.S. online service provider, FriendRex reports apparent child sexual abuse material that we become aware of to the NCMEC CyberTipline, with the information the law requires (such as the content, account identifiers and relevant timestamps). We preserve the reported material and records for the period the law requires.

8. Cooperation with Law Enforcement

FriendRex complies with applicable child-safety laws and cooperates with valid legal process from law-enforcement agencies, including preservation requests, warrants, subpoenas, court orders and emergency-disclosure requests, in line with applicable law and our Privacy Policy. Send law-enforcement and NCMEC requests to legal@friendrex.app (copy support@friendrex.app) with a subject line beginning "Legal Process".

9. Who Handles Reports

Child-safety reports are handled by FriendRex staff with administrator access. Access to reports and preserved material is limited to the people who need it, and report contents, including the identities of reporters and victims, are kept confidential. As FriendRex grows we will add trust & safety capacity.

10. Continuous Improvement

11. Compliance with Google Play CSAE Standards

These Standards are designed to comply with Google Play's Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) Standards. We publish these standards at a stable public URL, provide an in-app mechanism for reporting CSAE, act on reports, handle CSAM as described in Sections 6 and 7 (including reporting to NCMEC), comply with applicable child-safety laws, and name a child-safety contact (Section 13).

12. Changes to These Standards

We may update these Standards as the platform, our safeguards, and applicable laws evolve. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification and via the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage parents, guardians, and users to review these Standards periodically.
